FRANKLIN COUNTY — The Rend Lake Conservancy District is reminding residents about keeping lead out of their drinking water. The system reported finding a few local homes with levels of lead up to three times the acceptable level in their drinking water.

Keith Thomason is the General Manager of the Rend Lake Conservancy District. He says those homes had lead based plumbing and allowed the water to sit stagnant for a few days. He says if lead does build up in your drinking water, it’s rather easy to get rid of.

To find out how you can get your water test for lead, you can call the Rend Lake Intercity Water System at 439-4394.
