CENTRALIA — Authorities have announced the arrest of a 15-year-old juvenile male in connection with an alleged threat made against Centralia High School Wednesday that resulted in the school being placed on lockdown for a short time.

According to Superintendent Chuck Lane, the student was identified and arrested at the school Thursday and has been suspended for the maximum 10 days allowed. Further action against the student remains under consideration.

Centralia police arrested the student on a charge of making a terrorist threat for allegedly writing a note making a threat to the school. He was released to a family member pending court action.

The school administration ordered the lockdown at 10:50 Wednesday morning after a teacher informed administrators of a vague threat made to the school. Centralia police were called and officers checked school buildings before determining the threat was not credible. The school was brought off lockdown at 11:30 that morning.

Lane says the school takes the safety of staff and students very seriously and will continue to do so.

He thanked the Centralia Police Department for its quick response and thanked the school’s faculty, staff, and students for their cooperation. Lane also commended the school’s principal and assistant principals for their hard work in finding the information that led to the arrest
