Centralia High School Put on Brief Lockdown Wednesday

CENTRALIA — Centralia High School was briefly placed on lockdown Wednesday after a brief threat had been made.

According to Superintendent Chuck Lane, around 10:50 Wednesday morning, a teacher informed the school administration of a vague threat made against the high school.

The school was immediately placed on lockdown and the Centralia Police Department was contacted.

Centralia Police Chief Brian Atchison says that officers responded to the school and after conducting a check of the school officers determined there was no evidence of a problem.

Around 11:30 a.m. the school reportedly lifted the lockdown and classes returned to normal.

Lane says the school takes the safety of staff and students very seriously and will continue to do so.

He thanked the Centralia Police Department for its quick response and thanked the school’s faculty, staff, and students for their cooperation.
