CUMBERLAND COUNTY — A Sunday afternoon crash on Interstate 70 in Cumberland County sent two Louisville residents to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

According to the Illinois State Police, it appears 18-year-old Makenna Ochs of Newton lost control of the truck she was driving on wet pavement of the eastbound entrance ramp of the Greenup exit.

The truck turned sideways and struck an eastbound car on the interstate driven by 49-year-old Larry Burroughs of Louisville.  Both vehicles then came to rest in the median.

Larry Burroughs and 51-year-old Cheryl Burroughs of Louisville were taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment of apparent minor injuries.

Ochs was uninjured but was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The crash occurred at 12:20 Sunday afternoon.
