MARION COUNTY — A 36-year-old Salem man is free on $500 cash bond after he was charged Monday in Marion County court with aggravated battery of a nine-year-old boy.

Brice McGee was arrested shortly before noon Sunday after the Department of Children and Family Services asked the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for an escort to McGee’s residence in the 1800 block of East Main in Salem.

The child protection agency was reportedly investigating a complaint regarding injuries caused to the boy at his home.

Deputies took McGee into custody and the boy was taken to the Salem Township Hospital Emergency Room for treatment.

McGee was formally charged in court Monday with Class 3 felony aggravated battery of a child under the age of 13. His bail was set at $50,000 with a special condition of release to have no contact with the boy.

McGee is next scheduled to appear in court November 20 for a first appearance with his court-appointed attorney.
