WAYNE COUNTY — A crash involving a SUV and a deer injured two people on westbound I-64 in Wayne County around 8:30 Sunday night.

Illinois State Police say according to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, 61-year-old Debora A. Krieg of Henderson, Kentucky and her 10-year-old male passenger from Fairfield, were traveling west in Krieg’s SUV on I-64 at milepost 110.5 when the vehicle struck a deer in the roadway causing front end damage and air bag deployment.

Krieg and her passenger were taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of injuries they sustained in the crash. They were wearing seat belts. The SUV was towed from the scene.

No charges were filed.
