JACKSON COUNTY — A 26-year-old Marion man charged in a drug ring with ties to the shooting of a police officer has been sentenced in Jackson County court to more than two decades in prison.

Christian Reichert was found guilty in July of Class 1 felony conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver cannabis involving more than 5,000 grams cannabis and Class X felony cannabis trafficking involving more than 5,000 grams of cannabis.

He’s required to serve at least half of a 23 year sentence.
Prosecutors say he moved several dozen pounds of marijuana over the course of a year and a half.

That ended in August 2016, shortly after the shooting of Carbondale officer Trey Harris.

Alex Karcher faces charges in that shooting.

In his last court hearing, Karcher’s lawyer said they’re working toward a plea deal. Karcher is due back in court next month.

Three others have already pleaded guilty to drug charges in this case.
