ILLINOIS (RFD) — It started on the West Coast, has popped up around Chicago, St. Louis and in some college towns. Now it’s coming to rural Illinois. The “it” is goat yoga, and Illinois farm couple Nathan and Talina Ryder plan to put some of their dairy goats to additional work this weekend with two goat yoga sessions on their farm in Pope County;
Originally from Phoenix, the Ryder’s had an interest in agriculture and apprenticed for several years under a farmer in southern Indiana. They found an acreage near Golconda and moved in to instead out of Illinois. The southern Illinois farmers raise dairy goats, chickens, pumpkins, mums and vegetables as part of a community-supported agriculture program;
Openings to participate in the two goat yoga sessions on the farm this weekend at 2 and 4 p-m Saturday still exist. You can find out more online at ryderfamilyfarms.com.
