WHITE COUNTY — A Fairfield man died in a one-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon in White County.

Illinois State Police say just before 1, 60-year-old James R. Pike was driving his truck south on U.S. 45 south of County Road 2200 North when he failed to negotiate a curve and left the west side of the roadway. The truck struck a ditch and then rolled multiple times before coming to rest.

Pike was not wearing a seatbelt. He was ejected from the truck. The White County Coroner’s Office pronounced Pike dead at the scene.

A passenger in the truck, 25-year-old Tyler E. Hutcheson of Fairfield, refused medical treatment at the scene.

Hutcheson received a citation for failure to wear a seat belt.
