FAYETTE COUNTY — A 19-year-old Greenup man was charged Thursday in Fayette County court with entering a home in Brownstown and assaulting a resident inside.

Brenden Byrum is accused with three others, 21-year-old Jacob Neal, and 20-year-old Anthony Bezroukoff, both of Effingham, and 24-year-old Jordan Springer, of Beecher City, of entering the home of Blake Sefton on Tuesday and beating him.

All four are charged with Class X felony home invasion, Class 2 felony aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and Class 4 felony criminal trespass to a residence.

Byrum appeared in court Thursday and was advised of the charges against him and the possible penalties if convicted.

He was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim, to abstain from drugs and alcohol, with random testing at his expense.

His bail was set at $35,000 and preliminary hearing was scheduled for November 16, along with a first appearance with his court appointed counsel.
