CENTRALIA — Centralia police have made an arrest in a weekend incident that sent a Good Samaritan to the hospital with head injuries and law enforcement says the arrest is due to information from a member of the public.

According to Centralia Police Lt. Greg Dodson, after an appeal was made in the news for information on two young men reportedly beating a woman in the Burger King parking lot Saturday night, an individual contacted police with a tip.

That tip, says Dodson, led to the arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile male for the alleged attack that sent the 42-year-old Good Samaritan to the Emergency Room for treatment. The other young male, as well as the female, were also identified from the tip.

Dodson had earlier reported that just before 11 p.m. Saturday, the Centralia man was a vehicle passenger in the drive-thru of the restaurant when he reportedly saw two younger male subjects beating an unidentified female.

He attempted to intervene and one of the young men reportedly attacked him, knocked him to the ground, and then punched him several more times.

He was unconscious when officers arrived and was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s where he was treated and released.

Dodson says police appreciate the help in identifying the juvenile suspect. He says citizen cooperation is essential in police identifying and apprehending the subject.
