JACKSON COUNTY — A Springfield hunter was found after getting lost in the Shawnee National Forest in Jackson County Saturday night.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, they were notified around 7:40 about 46-year-old Henry B. Lipsmire being lost near Horseshoe Bluff.

The sheriff’s office was able to get Lipsmire’s general location by his cell phone, but he lost his phone prior to the sheriff’s office getting the location.

Sheriff’s deputies with help from the Murphysboro-Pomona-Somerset Fire Department started a search in the area and found Lipsmire’s cell phone. He was found a short distance away unhurt just before 10:30 and was returned to his campsite.
