Shobonier Man Found Dead in Home After Fire Has Been Identified

FAYETTE COUNTY — Fayette County authorities have identified a 70-year-old Shobonier man found dead in his home Friday following a fire.

Fayette County Coroner Dave Harris says Reggie Harre’s body was found in the front bedroom of the burned structure. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office had been dispatched to the same residence the prior evening for a complaint of no power to the main house. The fire call came in around 4:55 a.m. and firefighters remained on scene until about 9:30 a.m.

Vandalia firefighters reported that as they were enroute to the scene, they could see flames from about two miles away. The house was fully involved upon their arrival. St. Peter firefighters were called for mutual aid assistance.
