WILLIAMSON COUNTY — Four people are recovering after being involved in a three-vehicle crash just after 2:30 Tuesday afternoon on Illinois 37, a half-mile south of Stotlar Road, near Marion.

Illinois State Police say all three vehicles were going north on 37. A 2005 Buick Le Sabre, driven by 87-year-old Robert E. French of Marion, was the lead vehicle. He was stopped behind a school bus, followed by a 1995 Chevy Silverado driven by 24-year-old Kelcie M. Beers of Marion and a 2003 Ford Mustang driven by 34-year-old Brent M. Pulley of Marion.

Beers’ truck slowed more aggressively than Pulley was anticipating. Pulley was unable to stop in time, struck the rear of the truck pushing it into the rear of French’s car.

Pulley’s car had to be towed from the scene due to damage. The other vehicles were able to drive away.

Pulley suffered incapacitating injuries. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Beers, French and French’s passenger – 86-year-old Carol C. French of Herrin, suffered minor injuries and refused transport.

Pulley was cited for following too closely.
