SANDOVAL — The Sandoval Fire Department responded to a structure fire Sunday night where they initially were advised a person was possibly trapped inside the residence.

Upon their arrival, firefighters noted heavy smoke and fire were visible. They immediately called mutual aid from nearby departments in the event that there was someone inside.

Firefighters were able to get a quick knock down on the fire from the exterior of the home and completed a quick primary search that thankfully did not result in anyone still inside.

The Odin and Centralia fire protection districts and the Centralia City Fire Department provided mutual aid.

Departments remained on scene for approximately 2.5 hours.
