MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon City Council continues to progress in preparing for water line replacement across the city. The council approved three different requests for engineering services for water line replacement at Monday’s meeting.

All of the requests approved Monday are for proposed replacement projects to take place over the next two years. Two of the requests are being handled at this time in order to get state funding through the Community Development Assistance Program, or CDAP, and through Illinois Environmental Protection Agency loans.
The council also approved the findings of the 2017-2018 city audit Monday, along with the nominations of Police Chief Trent Page and Fire Chief Kevin Sargent to the 911 board and the Minority Affairs and Human Relations Board.
The next scheduled city council meeting will be on Monday, October 15 at 7 p.m. at the Rolland W. Lewis Community Building at Veteran’s Park.
