AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING CENTRALIA WOMAN’S EARLY MORNING SHOOTING DEATH

CENTRALIA — Centralia police are investigating an early Saturday morning homicide.

Marion County Coroner Troy Cannon says Centralia police summoned him to a home on Anderson Street where a 44-year-old Centralia woman was found dead of apparent gunshot wounds.

Cannon says, Precious Jones, is the apparent victim of a homicide. He pronounced Jones dead at the scene.

According to Centralia police, a person entering Jones’ home found her body and notified them around 3:23 a.m.

There had not been any reports previously of shots fired in the area, so it is unclear at what time Jones was actually shot.

An autopsy is scheduled for today (Monday) to gather more information and evidence.

Centralia police ask anyone with any information to contact them at 533-7602. Centralia Police Chief Brian Atchison says his officers canvassed the neighborhood Saturday morning and will be following up on all leads; however, they have no suspects at this time.

The Irvin/Macz Funeral Home in Centralia is assisting the family with arrangements.
