BENTON — A 26-year-old Centralia man was sentenced Wednesday in Benton federal court to 17 years in prison on multiple drug and weapons charges.

Ryan Jacklin had earlier pleaded guilty to three of four counts in a federal indictment. According to Count 1 of the indictment, on or about September 12, 2016, in Richland County, Jacklin possessed with the intent to distribute 50-grams or more of methamphetamine. Count 2 charged that on the same date, Jacklin possessed with the intent to distribute heroin.

Count 3 charged that on that date he possessed a .357 Taurus Magnum revolver in the furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

And Count 4 charged that from about 2014 to on or about September 12, 2016, in Marion and Washington counties, Jacklin conspired with others to manufacture and distribute 500 grams or more of meth, which is punishable by between 20 years to life in federal prison.

Jacklin was sentenced to 144 months on Counts 1 and 4, and 60 months on Count 3, for a total of 204 months.

Counts 1 and 4 will run concurrently and Count 3 will run consecutively. Count 2 was dismissed per the plea agreement.

After completing at least 85 percent of his 17-year prison sentence, Jacklin will have to serve 5-years mandatory supervised release.

The court Wednesday recommended he serve his prison sentence at the federal prison in Greenville, Illinois.

Jacklin has remained in custody since his February 2017 arrest following the traffic stop in Richland County. He was remanded Wednesday back to the custody of the U.S. Marshal Service in Benton, Illinois.
