MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon City Council approved new four-year contracts with the city’s police officers and dispatchers at Monday night’s meeting. The two contracts will both run until 2022, and give each employee a 1.75% raise per year.

The council also approved the lowest bids to replace the water line on N. 44th Street and to replace a few sidewalks in the downtown area.

It was also approved for the city manager to seek proposals for a new city-wide telephone system and for resealing of parking lots at Veteran’s Park, the Aquatic Zoo, and at city hall.

The city council will meet again on Monday, October 1 at 7 p.m. at the Rolland W. Lewis Community Building at Veterans Park in Mt. Vernon.
