MCLEANSBORO — McLeansboro Assistant Fire Chief Jim Morris and Firefighters Walter Rexing were presented with Proclamations of Merit by Mayor Dick Deitz and Fire Chief Leroy Browning at Tuesday night’s McLeansboro City Council meeting.

According to a post on the City of McLeansboro’s Facebook page, the Proclamation of Merit is the highest level of recognition awarded to individuals who demonstrate the highest level of dedication and may lay down their life for others while in the service of the City of McLeansboro.

Officer Mathew Bryson, Officer Cory Skelton, Deputy Kaitlin Wilson, Firefighter Nathan Taylor, Paramedic Greg Baker and EMT-1 Gary Arndt were presented with Recognitions of Merit, an award recognizing persons who demonstrate actions the may jeopardize their personal safety while helping others.

These First Responders were instrumental in saving the life of a person during a house fire on August 26, 2018. Mayor Deitz noted that their service and example is something for which we can all be proud and grateful.
