Shirley Sallee, 81, of Bonnie, Illinois passed away at 5:15 A.M.September 8, 2018 at Mount Vernon Health Care Center. She was born February 7, 1937 in Bonnie, Illinois to the late Henry and Leora (Ramsey) Riggs.

Shirley first married D. Larry Pace on October 16, 1955. She later married Cecil Dean Sallee on December 6, 1996. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2005.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Leneave and husband, Raymond of Bonnie, Illinois and Leanne Anselment of Dahlgren, Illinois; grandchildren, Bryan Morgan of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Brad Morgan and wife, Erin of Alma, Illinois, Matthew Anselment of Dahlgren, Illinois, and Kara Anselment of Dahlgren, Illinois; and great-grandchildren, Brianna Morgan and Danielle Morgan.

In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her infant brother and infant grandson, Peter Anselment.

Shirley worked for Good Samaritan Hospital then later for Western Union. She was a supervisor at Addus for many years and then after she graduated from Rend Lake College at the age of 58 and received her LPN license, she worked at DORS as a case manager. She was a member of the Red Hats Society and volunteered at Lifeboat Alliance. Shirley was a very active member of West Side Baptist Church, where she wrote the church news every week. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Shirley was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

A Visitation will be heldMonday, September 10, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be heldTuesday, September 11, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Hughey Funeral Home with Reverend Don Evans officiating. Interment will follow atHams Grove Cemetery in Rural Jefferson County, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Shirley’s honor to the Jefferson County Animal Control.
