SALEM — Salem police are looking for a subject believed responsible for an armed robbery Friday afternoon of a store in the strip center west of the Salem Super Wal-Mart.According to Salem Police Chief Sean Reynolds, at approximately 11:43 a.m., his department received a report of a panic alarm at the Cash Store located at 103 Baldridge Lane in Salem.

Upon officer arrival, it was verified that a robbery had occurred at the store.

A lone employee in the store informed officers that a black male, approximately 5-feet 10-inches tall, with a thin build, in about his mid to late 30s, wearing dark clothes and a ball cap displayed a handgun and demanded money.

The suspect fled the store in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers were able to determine later through nearby video surveillance that the suspect fled the store on foot to the southwest of the store and ran across U.S. Highway 50.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit was brought in to track the suspect, but the track ended to the south of North American Lighting.

The suspect remains at large. There were no injuries reported. Police continue to investigate.
