CARBONDALE — A Carbondale man has been arrested and charged in reference to a hit and run traffic crash that happened around 11:50 Wednesday morning at Carbondale Middle School on East Grand Avenue.

Carbondale Police say they learned from witnesses that the man struck a gate with a vehicle on the north side of the building. The man then drove away and officers located him 15 minutes later and arrested him. The man was identified as 23-year-old Joshua R. Jager.

Officers charged Jager with leaving the scene of a property damage accident and operating an uninsured vehicle.

Students and staff witnessed the crash; however, no one was injured, and they were not in the immediate vicinity of the crash.  School staff followed protocol and notified all staff and parents. There were not any known threats to the school, staff or students at the time of the crash.
