SALINE COUNTY — The Saline County Board Tuesday night chose Saline County Chief Deputy Ken Clore to become sheriff replacing Keith Brown, who resigned Monday to take a position in education. That’s according to WSIL-TV.

Clore will not appoint a chief deputy due to county revenue being down. Only nine of the 14 board members were present for the special board meeting.

Clore, a Democrat, is one of three people running for the sheriff’s office in November’s election. The other two are Republican Whipper Johnson – the former Harrisburg Police Chief – and write-in candidate Shawn Eric Turner.
