MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon City Council approved a bid of just under $1.1 million to improve N. 44th St. on the west side of the city at Tuesday’s meeting.

The lowest bid that was ultimately chosen was put in by Baxmeyer Construction of Waterloo.
