HARRISBURG — An Eldorado woman is heading to prison on meth possession charges.

According to Saline County State’s Attorney Jason Clark, 40-year-old Mary Beth Hutchison entered a plea of guilty Tuesday in Saline County Court to a Class 3 felony charge of methamphetamine possession.

She was sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, with 1 year mandatory supervised release. Class 3 felonies generally carry a possible sentence of two to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Because of Hutchison’s criminal record, she was eligible for and received an extended term sentence.

The charge against Hutchison arose out of an incident in which Hutchison was found in possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine by officers of the Saline County Sheriff’s Department during a traffic stop in Eldorado.

Deputy Charles Welge of the Saline County Sheriff’s Department led the investigation of Hutchison’s case. Assistant State’s Attorney Jason Olson handled the successful prosecution of Hutchison.
