BENTON — A Harrisburg woman was sentenced in federal court Monday to 156 months in federal prison for methamphetamine offenses.

Court records show 33-year-old Krystle R. Sands previously pled guilty to a two-count indictment charging her with conspiracy to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine and conspiracy to possess pseudoephedrine knowing that it would be used to manufacture methamphetamine. In addition to her prison term, Sands was ordered to serve eight years on supervised release and pay a $400 fine.

Evidence at the plea and sentencing established that, between January 2015 and April 2017, Sands was involved with co-defendant Robert Humphrey and others in the manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine in Jackson, Williamson and Saline Counties.

At sentencing, the district judge found that Sands was responsible for the possession of over 200 grams of pseudoephedrine and the distribution of more than a kilogram of “ice.” Ice is methamphetamine which has a purity level of at least 80 percent. Co-defendant Humphrey was previously sentenced to 200 months incarceration for his role in the methamphetamine offenses.

The investigation was conducted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Elkville Police Department.  The Southern Illinois Drug Task Force and Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office also assisted in the investigation.
