A 46-year-old Nashville man may have been blinded over the weekend when his eyes were badly gouged during an altercation in Perry County.

According to Perry County authorities, Robert Pfister was driving in the western part of Perry County Saturday afternoon when a suspect chased him down and blocked his vehicle.

Pfister reportedly got out of his vehicle and the men began fighter, ultimately ending up in a roadside ditch where the suspect gouged Pfister’s eyes. Authorities are being told he may lose his eyesight.

Pfister was airlifted from the scene to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment of his injuries.

According to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, they know the identity of the suspect but do not yet have enough information to make an arrest. A search warrant has been executed, however, and officials say the case is developing.
