ST. CLAIR COUNTY — Illinois State Police responded to a one-car crash early Friday morning on Illinois 161 in St. Clair County, where a 26-year-old male driver from Mt. Vernon, a 26-year-old female passenger from Salem, and a 26-year-old male passenger from Dix were all taken to hospitals for treatment of serious or life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have not released the names of the vehicle occupants, but they report the 26-year-old male from Mt. Vernon was driving a gray 2009 Chrysler 300 on Illinois 161 eastbound at Summerfield Road around 3:27 a.m., when the car ran off the roadway to the right and rolled over several times.

The front seat passenger was reportedly ejected from the vehicle and was transported to Barnes-Jewish Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver and back seat passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle. The driver was transported to St. Louis University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The back seat passenger was transported to Memorial East Hospital in serious condition.

The crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
