A Shawneetown man was arrested Monday in Saline County and charged with five counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

According to Hamilton County State’s Attorney Justin Hood, the counts against Rick R. Horton allege that the crimes were committed between 2006 and 2009 with three different victims. All counts are Class X felonies with a range of 6 to 30 years in Department of Corrections. His bond has been set at $500,000.

Horton will be advised of his charges at a first appearance set for Thursday morning at 10:30 in Hamilton County.

Horton also has pending charges in Saline County on six counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

Horton is currently lodged in the Saline County Jail.

The case was investigated by the Illinois State Police.
