Illinois residents are leaving the state at a higher rate than other Americans leaving their home state. United VanLines reports Illinois has the highest percentage of outbound moves, ahead of the Tri-State area states of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. Austin Berg with the Illinois Policy Institute population loss was a problem with roots in the early part of this decade.
Berg fears as people leave, so will companies.
The top four destination states in the National Movers Study are Oregon, Idaho, Nevada and Vermont.
