The Mt. Vernon City Council heard its first reading of a petition to annex property near the northwest corner of exit 80 on I64 just south of the city on Highway 37 for a new Love’s Travel Shop. Some citizens made their concerns known to the council at Tuesday night’s meeting.

Current plans from Love’s indicate construction on the desired truck stop begin next summer pending approval. The plans reveal space for 99 trucks and 66 cars/RVs on 11 acres of currently vacant property. The stop would be the 4th Love’s Travel Stop in the WMIX Listening area with locations in Ina, Greenville and new Baden.
