MT. VERNON — A possible new Love’s Travel Stop in Mt. Vernon will be on the agenda of tonight’s Mt. Vernon City Council Meeting. The location would include a full-service truck stop and restaurant.

The council will hear a first reading of an ordinance that would annex property near the northwest corner of exit 80 on Interstate 64 just south of the city on Highway 37.

Current plans from Love’s indicate that they desire to begin construction next summer. Site plans reveal space for 99 trucks, 66 cars and RVs on 11 acres of currently vacant property. The stop would become the fourth Love’s Travel Stop in the WMIX Listening Area with other locations in Ina, Greenville and New Baden.

The annexation into the city limitis is considered due diligence in moving forward with the project. The council will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at the Rolland Lewis Building at Veterans Park. You can listen to the meeting on WMIX AM 940, 96.5 FM and wmix94.com.
