A 32-year-old Bluford man has been charged in Marion County Court with a criminal misdemeanor after his wandering horse allegedly was involved in a fatal crash on Route 161 earlier this month.

James Kennards was charged with a Class C misdemeanor for allowing a domestic animal to run at large.

According to crash reports, 78-year-old Ronald Stuber, of rural Iuka was driving on Route 161 Extension just west of Iuka Road when just before dawn he struck the horse with his car.

Ronald Stuber was injured in the crash, but his 51-year-old son Jeffery Stuber, also of rural Iuka, was killed.

Kennards has been given a notice to appear January 22, on the charge. If convicted he could be sentenced to a maximum 30 days in jail and fined $1,500.
