A two-vehicle crash Monday morning in Clinton County has resulted in the death of a 17-year-old and sent two others to the hospital.

According to reports, the crash occurred just before 9 a.m. Monday on Route 161 near Shoal Creek Road just east of Germantown.

Illinois State Police say the 17-year-old was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu when he lost control on the wet pavement and went into the westbound lanes, where the car hit a 2004 Chevrolet Caviler.

Reports show a 17-year-old male and 14-year-old girl were occupants of the Cavalier. They were both airlifted to a St. Louis hospital for treatment.

The teenage driver of the Malibu was pronounced dead at the scene.
