Bluford Man Pleads Guilty to Possession in Jefferson County Court

A 51-year-old Bluford man has been sentenced to 4-years in the Department of Corrections after he pleaded guilty Tuesday in Jefferson County Court to felony possession of a controlled substance.

Craig L. Fenton will serve his 4-year sentence concurrently to an 8-year prison sentence he received last month in Wayne County.

Fenton’s arrest in Jefferson County was part of an operation that resulted in the arrests of more than a dozen people on drug-related warrants.

His arrest in Wayne County was the result of a joint investigation between the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Mt. Vernon Police Department, and the U.S. Postal Service into the distribution of bath salts in the area.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, at the time of his arrest Fenton was allegedly in possession of package that later turned out to be 2.2lbs of suspected a-PVP, also known as bath salts. The a-PVP confiscated has an estimated street value of $70,000.

Fenton was transported to the Wayne County Jail on preliminary charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and also a federal warrant for violating his supervised release on a federal weapons conviction.
