The Vandalia School District will be searching for a new superintendent after more than 10 years with Rich Well at the helm.

Following a School Board meeting Tuesday, the board accepted Well’s resignation as the Superintendent of Schools, effective immediately.

Well said the resignation was for personal reasons; however, no other explanation was given.

Well has been in the Vandalia School District for 27 years, more than 11 of which have been as the district’s Superintendent of Schools.

A Director of the Okaw Vocational Center Nick Casey will serve as a short term replacement for Wells. Casey was named at a special school board meeting Friday.

Well was originally going to retire at the end of this school year, but Casey will not be a candidate for the permanent position—as interviews will go on for the permanent replacement as earlier planned.
