Bail has been set at $10,000 for a 28-year-old Centralia man of theft from a vacant home his former employer was in the process of renovating.

Tommy Jones is accused of taking spools of copper wire and tools from a home in the 900 block of East Second. The items are valued in excess of $10,000.

According to reports, the owner of Arkay Construction became suspicious when he learned Jones might be involved in taking some stripped wire to a salvage yard and then didn’t show up to work the next day.

Police say Jones admitted under questioning that while he had planned to returned the tools to avoid being charged, he never did.
