Leslie W. Marlow, 88, of Dix, passed away 7:35 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2017, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital, in Mt. Vernon.
He was born December 17, 1928, in Walnut Hill, the son of Datha Myrle and Lillie (Piercy) Marlow. On December 23, 1950, he married Lillie M. Riley, and she survives in Dix.
He graduated from Sanders Grade School and Woodlawn High School, and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, from 1950 to 1952. He was a member of First Christian Church of Salem, and prior to retirement, worked as a Rural Mail Carrier for 33 years, in Texico. He enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, and roller skating, and loved teaching children how to ski.
Mr. Marlow is survived by his wife, Lillie Marlow of Dix; one son, Michael D. Marlow and wife Lena of Ft. Myers, Florida; one daughter, Sandra L. Work and husband Ted of Effingham; two grandchildren, Patrick Work and wife Patricia of Carbondale, and Shannon Juarez and husband Raul of Batavia; four great-grandchildren, Isabelle Juarez, Kaylee Work, Kaitlyn Juarez, and Hannah Juarez; one niece, Nevada Raglin, who was raised in the home; and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lucille Marlow Parks, Loyd Marlow, Norman Marlow, Eugene Marlow, Dean Marlow, and Cleve Marlow; and a nephew, Ray Mills, who was raised in the home.
Funeral Services for Mr. Marlow will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2017, at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Phil Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Grove (County Line) Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 16, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
