The Benton City Council approved an amendment to the Airport Board ordinance at Monday night’s meeting.
City Attorney Tom Malkovich reminded the council and those in attendance about the change.

Commissioner Don Storey asked Malkovich if current board members were going to be replaced by the change in the ordinance. Malkovich responded to Storey by saying the board will go from seven members to three. Storey then asked Malkovich if the board was going to be made up of all new members. Malkovich responded.

The vote was unanimous to make this change to the ordinance.

The council also approved hiring Jim Brown of Harrisburg as airport engineer. The contract is good for five years, which is the amount of time IDOT set in its agreement for engineering services. The contract calls for a 30 days’ notice to be given to end services.
