A Grand Tower man is in the Jackson County Jail on two unrelated warrants after Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies got a call from a woman at the Cardinal Corner convenience store Thursday afternoon reporting that she had escaped after being held against her will.

The caller said the armed suspect, identified as 29-year-old Keith A. Ticer, was presently inside his vehicle in the parking lot.

Deputies went to the area and saw the vehicle described by the victim. When deputies approached the vehicle, Ticer fled, leading deputies on a slow pursuit with speeds never exceeding 35 miles per hour within Grand Tower.

Ticer eventually lost control of the truck, drove through a fence and fled on foot. He temporarily eluded deputies by fleeing into the woods along the Mississippi River.

Deputies called in a K-9 unit from the Elkville Police Department to track Ticer. Within moments of the K-9 track, Ticer was seen running from the woods. Deputies pursuing on foot caught Ticer when he tried to hide in a small shed. He was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation continues. Additional charges are anticipated. No further details are being released as this time.
