A 38-year-old former Altamont man was sentenced Wednesday in Clinton County Court to 14 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to two counts sexually abusing a family member.

Mark Redfern pleaded guilty to two Class 2 felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a family member in exchange for two Class X felony charges of predatory criminal sexual assault being dismissed.

Redfern is already serving a 25-year prison sentence after a Marion County jury found him guilty in 2015 of Class X felony predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under the age of 13.

The 14 year Clinton County sentence will be served concurrently to the Marion County sentence and will not add any time to his prison term.

In addition to the prison term, Redfern will have to serve 4-years to life on parole. He will also have to register for life as a sexual predator.

Redfern’s victim in the Marion County case, a then 5-year-old girl, testified during trial via closed circuit TV about the abuse, her now 16-year-old sister also testified about abuse she allegedly suffered when she was 7- to 9-years-old.
