Illinois House District 107 has its first Libertarian Party candidate with Salem resident Thadeus J. Freed throwing his hat into the ring for a seat being vacated by Republican Rep. John Cavaletto.

Freed is the Libertarian Precinct Committeeman and says he’d like to work with other lawmakers to reduce the cost of running the state.

He says he would never support an unbalanced budget and wants the 107th district to be the spot where existing businesses choose to where new businesses chose to relocate.

A proponent of smaller government, Freed wants to eliminate criminal statutes where there is no victim.

Two GOP candidates have already announced their candidacy for their Party’s nomination in the race. Blaine Wilhour of Fayette County and Laura Myers, of Bond County will face off in the March primary election.
