A 38-year-old McLeansboro man is in the Jefferson County Jail after he was arrested Wednesday afternoon on multiple charges and outstanding warrants.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, they received a call Wednesday from a subject who reportedly saw a tool box in the back of a truck that had been stolen from him a day or two before. When the first deputy got to the area he spotted the truck driving with the tool box in the back and noticed the truck had expired registration.

The deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop on the truck at which time it began to flee. The deputy pursued the truck down rural county roads and the driver of the truck eventually stopped in the middle of the road and fled on foot. The deputy gave chase and caught the subject in a wheat field. The subject resisted arrest and was tased by the deputy.

After being taken into custody, the male provided a false name. However, Deputies determined the subject they had in custody was Joshua A Bell. Bell had two outstanding Hamilton County warrants for his arrest, one was for Escape, with bail set at $35,000 and the other was for possession of meth, with bail set at $30,000.

In addition to the Hamilton County warrants, Bell is now facing new charges in Jefferson County for driving while license revoked, aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer, no registration, disobeying a traffic control device, no insurance, illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of methamphetamine, and other citations for improperly using the vehicles title. Bell remains in Jefferson County Jail awaiting the setting of bail
