Glen Dale Byars, 84, of Geff, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at his home.
Glen was born on October 22, 1932, in Keenes, Illinois, to Edgar and Mary (Ritchie) Byars. He married Shirley (Cornstubble) on December 29, 1957, at Ten Post Oak Church in Keenes, Illinois.
Glen served in the Army and was deployed overseas in 1954. He was a lifelong farmer and owned a trucking business. He retired in 1997, and then began restoring and collecting antique tractors. He was a member of Oak Valley FWB Church where he served as a Trustee for several years. He was also one of the charter members of the Geff Ruritan Club. In his retirement, he enjoyed helping his sons with harvest and loving on his grandchildren.

Vernon, IL; Rodney (Brooke) Byars, Geff, IL; Siblings, JoAnn Wolfe, Granger, IN and Bill (Judy) Byars, Bluford, IL; Grandchildren, Candice (Caleb) Holbrook, Ryan (Lindsey) Owen; Andrew (Jessica) Pennington, Laurel (Kevin) Mason; Megan (Eric) Spitzner, Matthew (Meghan) Byars, Marissa Byars; Kelly (Cody) Pratt, Jay (Erik) Rigdon, Joe Meagher; Hayden (Amelia) Byars, Chloe Byars, Chynna Byars; Great grandchildren, Brendon, Emily, and Lane Mason; Henry and Lincoln Pratt; Haley and Kayson Holbrook; Janelle Owen and Baby Owen on the way; Bristol Pennington; Brock Byars; several nieces and nephews; Special caregivers, Joni Wildbur Brown, Donna Horn, Samantha Weber, Valerie Brown, Tracey West; and extended family, Amparito Torres-Roca and Vanna Miller.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Edgar and Mary Byars; Sister, Joyce (Larry) Scarbrough; Brother-in-law, Delmar Wolfe; Children, infants Nicky & Vicky Byars; and Niece, LaRita Reynolds.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at the Oak Valley FWB Church at 10:30 am. Oak Valley FWB Church is located 3 miles west of Geff, on the corner of Co. Hwy 7 and 1325 E. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at the Oak Valley FWB Church from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Wednesday morning 9:30am to time of service. Burial will be at Oak Valley FWB Church cemetery.
