A 24-year-old Centralia man was arrested on a cannabis charge over the weekend following an investigation into a reported fight at A Wamac tavern.

Lamar Bennett was arrested for alleged manufacture with the intent to deliver cannabis. Bennett was reportedly riding in a vehicle that jumped a curb early Saturday to flee area of the Industrial Tavern as police arrived on a report of a large fight in the parking lot.

Wamac police had been advised that one of the people involved in the fight had a handgun and they believed the occupants of the car Bennett was in could be in possession of that gun.

Centralia officers assisting stopped the car, driven by 25-year-old Mylisha Scott, of Centralia. She was arrested for alleged driving while license suspended and on an outstanding Marion County warrant.

Her passenger, Bennett, was allegedly found in possession of 37 grams of cannabis, an electronic scale, and $80 cash. However, no firearm was located.

They were both taken to the Marion County Jail where Scott posted bond and was released. Bennett remains in custody.
