Centralia Man Arrested For Violating IL Sex Offender Registry Act

A 22-year-old Centralia man was arrested Thursday for a violation of the Illinois Sex Offender Registry Act as a sexual predator.

Thomas M. Smith was convicted in 2016 to Class 3 felony possession of child pornography and Class 3 violation of the Sex Offender Registration Act and was sentenced to 3-years on each count to be served concurrently.

His arrest in that case came as the result of a juvenile probation check and on an IDOC parole warrant.

It appears the initial crime and conviction that landed Smith on the Registry and in IDOC custody occurred when he was a juvenile in Clinton County, so any associated court and correctional information is sealed.
