A 49-year-old Greenville man was charged Wednesday in Marion County Court with allegedly making unauthorized charges on an account of a Centralia church.

David Chmielewski was arrested after video surveillance showed he had allegedly signed the names of three members to make $79 in purchases on the account of the Temple Baptist Church at a Centralia convenience store.

Church officials reportedly told Centralia police that Chmielewski had not returned to the church since he was involved in another alleged theft incident last summer.

Chmielewski was released from the Marion County Jail after posting $500 cash bond. He’s scheduled for an October 26 first appearance with his court appointed attorney.
