REND LAKE — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake say North Gun Creek Neck, located north of Highway 154 and west of I-57, is now closed and will be through Friday so Ameren Illinois can remove old electric lines and pull new electric transmission lines across this section of Rend Lake.

The Rend Lake Conservancy District boat ramp, also known as North Gun Creek boat ramp, closed last night for safety reasons. It will stay closed until work is complete in this section of the lake.

The water portion of the closure will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day while Ameren Illinois workers are completing the wire pull. Ameren Illinois will have safety boats stationed at the Hwy 154 and I-57 Gun Creek bridges to secure the area during these times.

Officials say notice will be given when the area is reopened.
