JACKSON COUNTY — A Carbondale man was sentenced Wednesday in Jackson County Court to eight years in state prison for delivering a combination of heroin and fentanyl to a confidential source working with the Carbondale Police Department.

Jackson County State’s Attorney Michael Carr says 34-year-old Kenneth W. Neal allegedly committed the offense on Sept. 13 of last year.

Carr says delivery of a controlled substance is a Class 2 felony. However, because of Neal’s prior criminal history, he was sentenced as a Class X offender.

Neal will have to serve three years of mandatory supervised release following his time in prison.
